So that we can close our offices and act responsibly at this time, we have taken the decision to temporarily change all appointments to a remote format. Therefore, we are offering a choice of Skype/Zoom/FaceTime/Phone appointments. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and remain responsive to Government guidance. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We are also still accepting new clients so please don't hesitate to contact us.
Alison & Sara
Welcome to our website
Harper Clinical Psychology is based in Edinburgh and managed by Dr Alison Harper. Alison is a Clinical Psychologist who is registered with both the HCPC and the BPS. She has over twenty years experience in working with a wide range of mental health problems and offers a range of services, including assessment, treatment and expert witness reports.
Also working in the practice with Alison is Sara Huibregtse Van Loon, a psychological therapist. Sara offers assessment, treatment and a flexible and collaborative approach to addressing common mental health difficulties, with a focus on personal growth and improved well-being.
Negative emotions are inbuilt into all of us as a means of survival, helping to warn us of imminent danger or threat. When these emotions are in balance, we remain mentally healthy. When our emotions begin to mis-fire, usually as a result of multiple stressors, mental health problems can emerge and we can become stuck in a vicious cycle.
Alison Harper has eighteen years’ experience in providing psychology medico-legal reports, largely within the areas of Personal Injury and Medical Negligence. She undertakes assessments of individuals reported to be experiencing difficulties that she routinely sees in her clinical practice.
Your initial appointment is for assessment, with the aim of checking that we are the right people to help, clarifying problems and discussing treatment options. Subsequent appointments then focus on therapy. Each appointment will last for 50-55 minutes.
